Non-violence is a very deep philosophy. Not only does it require me to harm no one physically, but also to avoid harming anyone’s self-respect. Such an ethic requires tremendous awareness and sensitivity. When I have learned to be gentle with myself, I can be the same with others.
Patience teaches us to sow the seed in the form of right actions and to allow the fruits of those actions to ripen in their own time. Within each experience of pain or negativity is the opportunity to challenge the perception that lies behind it, the fear that lies behind it, and choose to learn with wisdom.
I don’t need to think about the future benefits of what I do now, because I know I will receive what I need when the time is right.
If I let go of expectations and allow things to develop in their own time, I will be able to enjoy what I am doing in the present, and the future will automatically become good.
