Poornam Kozhukattai or Plain Modak – Ganesh Chaturthi Recipe

For Poornam Kozhukattai:

  • Jaggery – 3/4 cup (adjust as per sweetness you desire)
  • Grated Coconut – 1/2 cup
  • Cardamom powder – 1/2 tsp
  • Roasted Bengal gram – 1/4 cup
  • Ghee – 1/2 tbsp

For Poornam Kozhukattai:

  • In a mixer, coarsely grind the Roasted Bengal gram with grated coconut.
  • Heat a pan and add the above mixture with mashed jaggery and cardamom powder and mix well in low flame.
  • Jaggery will melt and it will form a sticky consistency mixture. Now add required ghee and mix well.
  • Let this poornam mixture cool down for some time.
  • Now make small balls of kozhukattai dough and press it with your fingers to spread it in round shape.
  • Make small balls of the poornam mixture and place it in middle of the kozhukattai dough, seal it off in the shape you desire and steam it for 10 to 15 mins.

  1. Can you also share the Ellu Urundai and Seasame seeds recipe please? How much time we need to soak the small ellu and what quantity of seasame seeds should be added.
